About Downtown El Gouna
The one part of El Gouna designed as a real town centre, built for walking and daily life.
Downtown El Gouna is the only district inside the resort designed as a real town centre. Whitewashed Kasbah-style buildings ring a network of pedestrian streets that link the central square, the bank street and the medical district. Cars route around the centre, so daily trips happen on foot or by buggy.
The area spreads around Abu Tig Marina, the best-known harbour in El Gouna. Here you find more than forty restaurants and cafes, from casual beach spots to fine dining facing the boats. The mood is lively and cosmopolitan, and it feels like a European coast town with year-round sun.
Downtown is also the practical centre of El Gouna. The hospital, the two largest supermarkets, the pharmacy, the post office and the bank branches all sit within five hundred metres. You can live here without a car, which is rare for a Red Sea resort.

The difference
What makes Downtown unique
Four reasons Downtown stands apart from the quieter, car-dependent districts.
- Built for walkingNarrow streets, covered passages and courtyards. No buggy or car needed for daily errands.
- Abu Tig Marina at the centreBerths for boats up to 25 metres, quayside dining and live music in high season.
- Services on your doorstepEl Gouna Hospital is two minutes away. Supermarkets sit within a five-minute walk.
- Strong short-let demandGuests prefer the lively centre, so occupancy here runs above the El Gouna average in season.
The first thing you notice is the walkability. Unlike other districts in El Gouna where you need a buggy or car, Downtown is fully built for pedestrians. The streets and shaded passages recall a Mediterranean village, paired with the steady warmth of the Egyptian Red Sea. That mix is what keeps both year-round residents and short-let guests coming back.
